  • How long will it take for me to complete this course? Do I have to take it all at once?

    This course is worth 3 credit hours toward your license renewal requirement. The course is divided into lessons so you do not have to complete the course in one session. For example, you can complete two lessons and then come back tomorrow to complete some or all of the remaining lessons.

  • Can I take this course anywhere?

    YES! All you need is a device like a computer, smartphone or tablet along with internet access to take one of our courses.

  • Will this course help me correct a mistake in a red or blonde formula?

    Yes, we discuss ways to pick the right shade of red or blonde considering the client's natural level, condition of hair, percentage of gray, skin color, eye color and more. Sample formulas are included in the course that are proven to work.

  • What do I do when my client is very unhappy with her haircolor?

    First, use the strategies in this course to try and diagnose what went wrong and how you might fix it. You can also ask someone in the salon to help solve the problem. Sometimes, two heads are better than one. Also, the manufacturer of your color line may have a hotline you can call for advice. Don't be shy! Ask for help.

  • I've been doing hair for a long time and I'm still in the back room praying the color looks good. Will this ever change?

    Lucinda Crowe-Layne

    Lucinda has been a licensed cosmetologist for over 30 years and a licensed instructor for 20 years. She owned her own salon, As the Crowe Flies, for more than 20 years and sold it to a wonderful creative and experienced cosmetologist who is thrilling her former clients with great styles and service while building the business.

    Then she began her career as an educator as Aveda Institute, Indianapolis, Indiana. Her goal is to bring real life experiences to new stylists entering the profession she passionately loves.

    Six years ago, she founded Birds Be Free Foundation to help women in recovery from substance abuse and domestic violence. Part of that work is to give women free makeovers so they can see in the mirror the beautiful changes they are working hard to make inside.

    After traveling the country for six years teaching and doing platform work for Clairol Professional, she continues holding classes for Awaken Your Beautiful where she is Vice President for Education.
